Born in Crotone, in Calabria, Italy, near where naturally balanced stones once existed, Mario Carnè has an 8 year old son, Simon, whose balances we hope will soon grace these pages. Mario himself has been balancing for 5 years, beginning with "two round, smooth stones from the mountains," he writes. And, in that moment, he "felt so relaxed" that his "difficulties in life were for a moment put aside". Some of his further Reflections are posted here. A number of his images are in a Guest Directory here, and he is featured on the Generations page on this site.

English watercolourist and marketing manager Peter Herring lives in Germany, but has balanced stones from Canada to the Caribbean. He likes to "take advantage of the different locations," and believes that each artist "will eventually find his/her style." An elegant website for his art has just been built with many pages devoted to stone balancing

A "gentleman obssessed with stones", sculptor and software analyst Rob Reynolds was cleaning up a rock pile at home when he stacked several of them, precariously balanced. Things have escalated from there, as his website galleries show. His environmental art includes placed and balanced stones, as well as a monumental piece he calls "sticks and stones".

After his day job at the newspaper, Dave Russell of North Carolina returns to his family and his Avant Garden (which people go out of their way to see) to "do something strange outside most every day." Visitors to this site would not find his balanced and stacked stone works "strange", and might like to see some of the hundreds of photos he could post on his web log. There you will also find his Number One Safety Rule in Rock Stacking: "When things start to fall, let them go and run." A further Lesson on balancing and stacking has been generated from one of his emails, he has offered two brief Reflections, and a page of this site is devoted to his speciality - "Arched Pedestal" Balancing.

David Liberty writes, "I have been balancing rocks for about 15 years or so. I went public with it in 1995 to rave reviews. I have a distinct style that people have seen all up and down the Columbia River Gorge. I do it for my own edification but always get a kick out of skeptics who refuse to believe their eyes." He is a Guest Balancer on this site, and his images are hosted in a Guest Directory here. He has contributed two Reflections. He welcomes feedback.
